Run Fatboy Run - a romantic comedy, directed by David Schwimmer, written by Michael Ian Black and Simon Pegg. Starring Pegg, Dylan Moran, Thandie Newton, Harish Patel, India de Beaufort and Hank Azaria, Movie released on 7 September 2007 in the UK. And then released in the US on 28 March 2008, having an MPAA rating of PG-13 (some rude, sexual humor, language, nudity and smoking).
A young man abandons his fiancée on their wedding day. After 10 years he discovers that she’s his true and only love. He trains to be running a marathon while trying to convince her he’s the one and that her present boyfriend is all wrong for her!
Pegg is superb in Dennis’ role and he has real chemistry with Thandie Newton, in what’s for sure her most likeable role in a decade almost. There’s strong comic support also from both Dylan Moran as the best friend of Dennis, Gordon (their amusing fight scene is quite a highlight), and from Harrish Patel playing his landlord-turned-trainer.
A hugely enjoyable film, amazingly acted and emotionally engaging, filled with laugh-out-loud gags.
True love isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon.
